Winger or midfield? a lot of us will struggle or indecisive to put our side midfield in the position MR/ML or AMR/AML. Let me explain to you some of the facts and why you should consider of these things.

Firstly, What formation do you set on?

4-4-2 normal / diamond give the idea that MR/ML is the best on this and 4-4-2 attacking use winger? so, what is best to use?

Just like the example on the right, the position for AML is natural, and ML is accomplished. where should i put them?

If put them on AML instead of ML -

Strengths -

1. Provide wider range formation to play attacking on the side. (If you have a good pace dribbling crossing winger, suggest you employ down the flanks on focus passing.)

2. Provide more strength on attacking and supporting to strikers in  the front.

3. good side assist in the pitch through ball and crossing to striker.

Weaknesses

1. will decrease the strength on defense area.

2. the  gape at the side will be longer than you set them as ML.

Normally i put them on ML/MR – unless like formation 4-5-1,  they have good solid center midfields (DMC-MC-MC)

Consider this when you setup your formation,

a. What is your opponent formation?

b. Is your defense strong enough to hold your opponent attacking pace?

c. Is your attacking needed another attacker from the side? If don’t,  then better put them as ML/MR then AM.

What do you think?
